Lovely mom & pop family owned business in the Fort Greene section of Brooklyn. Cataldo's provides an authentic experience, from the original owners cooking and managing the business, to the kids working all ends to keep the family tradition moving. The food as you can imagine speaks true to the idea of savory New York Italian cuisine. The pasta is cooked to perfection. The seafood tastes as though it's been freshly caught. The open streets seating on a crisp Friday night was a plus as well. If I have the craving for Italian food, I will pick Cataldo's over and over again!

My hubby knew this this establishment was Sicilian immediately and that was so impressive to. Our first bite of our entrees he said, "This taste just like my grandma's cooking" and he was right on point. Food is delicious! Service is excellent!

Service was subpar ..Place was empty and no one came out to greet us and we had to ask for a menu..another time my friend went and she experienced the same thing.. the older lady walked by me numerous times and did not greet me at all are asked me if I was being helped... both my friend and I are non-white ..and the place was not busy at all so I don’t know what that’s about..but I am not going back to spend my money there..I have had better service at other Italian restaurants so I will stick to them...be aware of how folks treat you in terms of greeting you getting a table and service ..many places will take your money but will show you in other ways they don’t want to be bothered.

My partner and I absolutely LOVE this place! We had been looking for an authentic Italian restaurant in the area and now we’re literally there every Saturday night. The owners are so sweet and the service is great. I believe their kids work there too. If I’m not mistaken, the person who serves us every time we are there mentioned being part of the family. The older woman came by our table to greet us and later offered us some of her homemade limoncello. It was better than we expected. So far our favorite dishes are the rigatoni all nonna (I think that’s the name) and the stuffed artichoke. We highly recommend this restaurant. It’s family run and they make you feel at home.

Good service, but terrible Italian food. Clearly canned tomato sauce tastes like spaghettios. Food is not made to order, as seen by the stack of pre-fried chicken cutlets sitting on the counter like at a bodega deli counter. No joke, perhaps the worst soup I have ever had, and best of all it gave my friend food poisoning. Vanderbilt ave has a dozen plus excellent restaurants worth going out of your way for.
