Dallas County Consumer Health Division

Website
Phone: (214) 670-8083

The Consumer Health Division promotes and ensures healthy practices across the community through regulation and training of food establishments. Some of their services include food operating permits, foodborne illness investigations, health inspections, consumer complaints, etc.

Their licensed sanitarians perform health inspections (i.e., routine, follow-up, complaints) on mobile and fixed establishments like restaurants, grocery stores, convenience stores, coffee shops, schools and food trucks. The inspections are scheduled based on risk factors such as food preparation methods, type of food served, quantity of meals and population served, among others. The inspections are evaluated using a score system (1 to 100 points), with 100 being the best score and 79 and below requiring a follow-up inspection.
